P126 4 �201 1 ® 0 �;2 0�� <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> DISPUTE SETTLEMENT CENTER MONTH PROCLAMATION <br /> Whereas , the Dispute Settlement Center began as a community mediation center <br /> in September 1978 to provide mediation services to Orange County residents ; and <br /> Whereas , the Dispute Settlement Center was the first community mediation <br /> center in North Carolina , and assisted in the formation of others around the state ; and <br /> Whereas , the Dispute Settlement Center now serves over 3 , 000 people through <br /> mediation , training , facilitation , and Restorative Practices for youth services ; and <br /> Whereas , the Dispute Settlement Center is an essential partner for the courts , <br /> the schools , and government units , and a resource for residents ; and <br /> Whereas , the Dispute Settlement Center is a statewide leader in the provision of <br /> these services ; and <br /> Whereas , the Dispute Settlement Center is celebrating its 40t" year of operation ; <br /> NOW , THEREFORE , we , the Board of County Commissioners of Orange <br /> County , North Carolina , do hereby proclaim November 2019 as " DISPUTE <br /> SETTLEMENT CENTER MONTH " in Orange County and invite residents to observe <br /> this month with appropriate programs , ceremonies , and activities . <br /> This , the 15t" Day of October , 2019 . <br /> Penny Rich , Chair <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
