REPRESENTATIVE APPOINTMENT DATE <br /> TERM <br /> 4 Brenda At-Large First Full Term 09/30/2022 <br /> Amezquita- <br /> Castro <br /> 6 Tomeka Ward- At-Large First Full Term 09130i2022 <br /> Satterfield <br /> 1 2 12 Dion Graham At-Lar a Partial Term D&.+3Di2D2D <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Commissioner Bedford said she personally knows Tomeka Ward-Satterfield, and <br /> 15 she is a strong candidate. <br /> 16 Commissioner Price agreed. <br /> 17 Chair Rich said these are good candidates. <br /> 18 Commissioner Bedford said these recommendations offer good diversity, and this <br /> 19 board is good about diversity. <br /> 20 Commissioner Marcoplos said this Board is where the diverse candidates converge. <br /> 21 He asked if the BOCC could suggest that some of these applicants consider serving on <br /> 22 other boards, with the same perspective they sought to bring to the HRC. <br /> 23 Commissioner Price said the HRC is a good in-road to this type of service. <br /> 24 Commissioner Dorosin said it is a good idea, but diversity is at the core of this <br /> 25 commission, and this core needs to be extended to other boards. He said diversity is a <br /> 26 value, and the boards need to prioritize it. <br /> 27 Commissioner McKee said it can be prefaced that all applicants cannot be <br /> 28 appointed to the HRC, and there are needs on other boards should people be interested. <br /> 29 He asked if applicants typically apply for one board, or multiple. <br /> 30 Commissioner Dorosin said the application asks this question. <br /> 31 Thom Freeman-Stuart said about 30% apply for multiple boards on the same <br /> 32 application. He said the only thing you will see on the applicant interest list is if they are <br /> 33 already serving on a board currently. <br /> 34 Commissioner Marcoplos said it is important to recruit others. <br /> 35 Commissioner Bedford said these diverse applicants can also be asked to recruit <br /> 36 friends for other boards. <br /> 37 Commissioner Price said one will find more people of color on the Housing advisory <br /> 38 boards and the Human Relations Commission, as they are an area of comfort. She said on <br /> 39 some boards one may be the only person of color, which can be off putting. <br /> 40 John Roberts said Annette Moore was planning to be here tonight to discuss <br /> 41 diversity on the boards, but had a conflict arise. He said she and him have had discussions <br /> 42 about having a diversity board for the County, but decided to not do so at this time. He said <br /> 43 for the last couple of weeks, Annette Moore been working with the Human Relations <br />
