3 <br /> Animal Services <br /> 5. The Animal Services Department is requesting an additional appropriation of funds of <br /> $8,821 to be used for temporary staffing needs at the Shelter for the care of seized dogs. <br /> The department anticipates these costs will be offset by funds received in the <br /> recoupment of these costs. <br /> 6. The Animal Services Department has received $17,720 of grant revenue from the Petrie <br /> Foundation within the Spay/Neuter Fund, a special revenue funds outside of the General <br /> Fund. These funds will be used toward Spay and Neutering services consistent with the <br /> grant award. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 5) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Sheriff's Office <br /> 7. The Sheriff's Office has been awarded funds from the U.S. Department of Justice FY <br /> 2018 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) in the amount of $27,861. The <br /> FY 2019-20 Approved Budget included an anticipated award amount of $10,000, so this <br /> budget amendment provides for the receipt of an additional $17,861. In June 2000, the <br /> Sheriff's Office entered into an agreement with Justice Benefit, Inc. to secure appropriate <br /> Federal financial assistance in recovering federal funds that are due to counties who <br /> house federal inmates. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of the additional <br /> $17,861. (See Attachment 1, column 6) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There are no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impacts associated with these Budget Amendment items. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Financial impacts are included in the background information above. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds in FY 2019-20 and <br /> increases the General Fund by $130,923; increases the Fire District Fund by $30,000; and <br /> increases the Spay/Neuter Fund by $17,720. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board approve these budget <br /> ordinance amendments for fiscal year 2019-20. <br />
