ii. Volunteer Drivers Program – 9 active volunteers who made 81 trips this quarter totaling <br />131 volunteer hours and 18,158 miles. <br />iii. Sent survey to participants asking key questions to see how to grow program and retain <br />drivers. <br />iv. Transportation Helpline 160+ calls per month. Will continue to provide information <br />table, classes & day trips, and meet MAP strategies. <br />v. MAP Transportation Workgroup met Aug 8. Alison will reach out to everyone to create a <br />standing schedule, give a boost by incorporating DCH metro planning corporation & <br />Meg Sculley of the Chapel Hill-Durham-Orange MPO. <br />vi. Reinstate Senior Transportation Resource Team focused on medical discharge. Need <br />better training & planning on what to do when discharged, especially if there are <br />mobility needs. 2-4 week process to get established with transportation in advance. <br />Start/restart Transportation SRT, especially for rural areas. Staying in Neighborhood <br />Connection SRT workgroup to create quadrant program networks to grow Volunteer <br />Driver program. <br />c. Employment <br />i. Colin Austin reported the workgroup met 2 weeks ago. The employment project has <br />been successful at engaging and/or enrolling 300+ people who have wanted to gain job <br />skills & taken class. Working on connecting these job seekers with employment. Need to <br />do more research into what kind of employment they are looking for, then we can look <br />for employers who match. Will send survey to employers to identify employment <br />matches. <br /> <br />Director’s Report <br />5. Staff updates <br />a. Seymour Center Evening Desk Manager, Alicia Pearley, was offered another position and has <br />resigned. <br />i. Evening desk manager works M–Th evenings and 10 hours on Saturdays <br />b. Deborah Lemmerman, Passmore Center Front Desk Manager, is transferring to the Seymour <br />Center Evening Facility Manager position effective today. <br />c. Posting Passmore Center Front Desk manager position in the next couple weeks <br />i. Working through the paperwork to get the position posted and hired as quickly as <br />possible. <br />d. Mary Fraser is coming to the Seymour Center on Friday to visit around 3-3:30 pm. Everyone is <br />visit and go to dinner afterward. <br />6. National Caregiver Month Proclamation to be issued by the BOCC on November 7 in conjunction with <br />Caregiver Day of Care to be held on Nov. 9. <br />7. Caregiver Day of Care – November 9 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Seymour Center <br />8. Hosting Statewide Memory Café Meeting – October 16 – Seymour Center <br />a. Kim Lamon-Loperfido, (AT) SW, spearheading the event to create a network of organizations <br />and individuals interested in, or currently providing, memory cafés. <br />9. Medicare Part D Open Enrollment October 15 – December 7 <br />a. Orange County Seniors Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is under VC55+, OC SHIIP <br />sees hundreds of people each year resulting in $1000’s of dollars saved by Medicare <br />beneficiaries. <br />10. (W)heel to Hill Cycling event on October 27 <br />a. Seymour to Passmore 12.5, 25 roundtrip, and another 50 mile route TBD. Sag Wagon available <br />to pick up those who need it, EMS on hand if needed.
