Orange County Animal Services <br />1601 Eubanks Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516 <br />919-942-PETS (7387) <br />ANIMAL SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD (ASAB) <br />6:30 to 8:00 p.m. <br />Wednesday, August 21, 2019 <br />Meeting Summary <br /> <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Maureane Hoffman (Chair), Evelyn Daniel, Susan Elmore, Casey <br />Ferrell, Beth Grooms, Diane Obeid, Lee Pickett, Amanda Schwoerke (Secretary), Bryan Stuart, <br />Lucia Welborne, Lisa Wells <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Molly Mullin (Vice-Chair), Edmund Tiryakian <br />STAFF PRESENT: Bob Marotto (Animal Services Director), Rachel Plast (Administrative <br />Assistant) <br /> <br /> <br />Call to order: 6:34 p.m. <br /> <br />Review and adoption of the Agenda: approved, after adding two additional agenda items <br />(about task-force procedures, and the Pat Sanford Animal Welfare Grant) <br /> <br />Summary of June 2019 meeting: approved, with minor changes <br /> <br />Review of public participation guidelines: Not reviewed <br /> <br />General Public Comments on items not on agenda: None <br /> <br />Animal Services Advisory Board Updates: <br />Old Business <br /> Progress Report of the Wild and Dangerous Animal Task Force <br />o Bryan Stuart (task force chair) deferred the Task Force’s report until the next <br />ASAB meeting; the Task Force met on August 7, and was continuing to iron out <br />details. <br /> Procedural Note on ASAB Task Forces <br />o Bob Marotto explained that if an ASAB task force has a majority of ASAB <br />members on it, then the same procedural rules apply to the task force as to the <br />ASAB as a whole. <br />o This means that such Task Force meeting must be noticed, open to the public, and <br />minutes must be published. <br /> <br />New Business <br /> Succession Planning for ASAB representative to the Animal Services Hearing Panel <br />Pool <br />o Bob Marotto explained that three ASAB members serve on the panel pool as <br />chairs, and explained what the members do.
