In that work session, the Board decided that it was satisfied as to the pay and benefit <br />directions it had put in place following its comprehensive review of the pay and benefits plan in <br />1998-99 and that it wanted to continue in these same directions for the upcoming two year <br />period. <br />For 2001-02 the Board also provided the following additional direction as to pay and benefits. <br />The Board asked that staff: <br />• Seek.ways to improve the consistency of Meritorious Service Awards across departments <br />and to assure that employees at all salary levels are considered. <br />• Provide options for improvement of the County 401(k) Plan contribution in 2001-02. <br />• Pursue aCounty-wide Classification and Pay Study far 2001-02 with results to be addressed <br />in the budget for 2002-03. <br />At the April 16 work session, the Personnel Director will briefly present background information <br />on the pay and benefits plan and options for 2001-02. This will include information on Cost of <br />Living Increase, In-Range Increase, Meritorious Service Awards, 401(k) Plan, Classification and <br />Pay Study, and benefits for domestic partners. Following this, the Board may wish to discuss <br />the pay and benefit elements and provide direction to staff for 2001-02 as desired. <br />
