Bryan, Lori Eichel, Jim Kitchen, Karen McAdams, Mark O’Neal, Mark <br />Sherburne, and Tom Underwood <br />Orange County Staff: Steve Brantley and Yvonne Scarlett <br />Absent: Nicholas Thomas <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order <br />D.R. Bryan, Chair called the meeting to order at 8:19 a.m. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes – January 14, 2013 <br />Minutes were approved unanimously. <br /> <br />Old Business <br />Advisory Board Work Plan follow-up; discussion included: <br /> as a group, determine one or two items to focus on <br /> developing a communications plan <br /> incentive policy <br /> use of quarter cent sales tax <br /> future advisory board meeting discussions: <br />o May – communications plan (sub-committee to execute) <br />o July – quarter cent sales tax and incentive policy recommendations <br /> <br />Director’s Report - Steve Brantley <br />Mr. Brantley provided a brief summary of the Economic Development department’s activities, including: <br /> Update on Project Rainbow & Strata Solar <br /> Staff changes and college interns <br />o Dottie Schmitt’s resignation <br />o Interns: Two Duke students through the end of May and one MPA intern who will begin in May <br /> Monthly or quarterly recognition award for local business and the advisory board's role in selecting <br />candidates and evaluating selections <br /> Launch incubator update <br /> PFAP nonprofit status update <br /> Advisory board’s open position (core business manufacturing sector) <br /> <br />Adjournment <br />D.R. Bryan adjourned the meeting at 9:55 am. <br />
