<br />The Orange County Hoard of Cocsmlissioners met in regular session on Mond, Nwember 2,
<br />1959, at ten oblock A.M. in theCOmmissionera~ room at the courthouse 1n Hillsboro, N. C.
<br />M®bers present: Chairman R. J. M. Hobbs, Commissioners Clarence Jones. Donald McDade,
<br />Donald Stanford and Henry Walker. Members absant: None '
<br />Chairman Hobbs called the meeting to order and an¢ouneed that trio regular Clerk, Miss Hefty
<br />Juno Hayes, mould not be preset, whereupon on motion duly made and seconded, it was ordered that Mr.
<br />Sam Cattis, County Accountants be requested to act ae Clark to the. Hoard £cs this meeting. Mr. Gatos
<br />was passant and accepted the assignment. The minutes of the previous meetings ware read by the
<br />Acting Clerk'snd approved by the Hoard.
<br />The follord ng Depaztment Officials presented reports for the month of October, 1959:

<br />Cashe Boggs, Dog Harden
<br />Honnla Davl s, Negro Home Demonstration Agent
<br />Shexma¢ Shelton, Negro Farm Agent
<br />Jam Parker, Welfare Superintendent
<br />E. M. Lynch, Clerk of Court
<br />Kathryn :H flat, Asst. Home Demonstration Agent and Dr. 0. David Garvin, District
<br />Health Officer, reported to the Board concerning the progress made on the Chronic Disease
<br />Protect being carried out in Person County, N. C.
<br />A committee composed of the Trustees of the Chapel Hill City Administrative School
<br />IInit and Joseph Johnson, Superintendent of said Unit, pre vented the following resolution to
<br />the Heard.
<br />"The Chapel H111 City Board of Education mat at the office of trio Hoard in Chapel Hill,
<br />Nwth Carolina, the regular place of meeting, at nine o: clock, A.L., Nwember 2, 1959, 1n regular
<br />session.
<br />Present: J. Kemptoa Jones, Chairman, and Mr. R. E. Jamarson, Mr. C. F. lfi last, Mr,
<br />J. R. Manley, and Mr. J. 14altcm Clark, Jr.
<br />Absent: Mr. Grsy Culbreth and Mrs. Marvin Men.
<br />Mr. R. E, Jamesson, introduced the following resolution which was read:

<br />BE IT HEHOLPID by the Chapel Hill City Board of Education:
<br />Sectl.on 1. That the Chapel Hi]1. City Eoazd al Fducati on has determimd and found as
<br />a fact that adequate school Tact7l.ties ere not non available in the Chapel Hill City
<br />Administrative Unit to como]y with the requirements of Section 3 of Artinlo IP of the
<br />Constitution of North Carolina for the malntenanca of schools six months in wary year, and
<br />that it is necessary, is order to maintain such six moaths~ school term as required by said
<br />Section 9 of Article 14 of the Constitution, to construct and equip en addition to the
<br />Glennwood School in Chanel Hi11, the estimated cost of which is $100,000.
<br />Section 2. That the Hoard of Commissioners for the County oS Orange ie requested to
<br />take all necessary steps, by the issuance of bands w othexMae, i.n order that funds mqy be
<br />provided for such school Tacillty.
<br />Section 9. That a copy of this resolution shall be certified to the Hoard of
<br />Commissioners fw said County.

<br />The committee presented its plans fw the proposed addition to the Glannwood
<br />School. The proposed addition is estimated to cost $144,000.00. It was stated that the Chapel.
<br />Hill Unit has available £or this addition the sum of $100,000,00, The Hoard expressed the
<br />seniment that they were not adverse to the Chanel Hill Unit using the &25,000.00 previously
<br />allocated Tor the purchase of a new school site to help defray the cost of the proposed Glenn-
<br />wood addition if the Chapel Hill Unit woo so desposed. A formal motion to this effect might
