August 25, 2010
Remini noticed a few typos in the minutes and requested corrections. Vogel motioned to approve the August 25,
2010 minutes as corrected. Rankin seconded the motion. The HPC unanimously approved the minutes from the
August 25, 2010 meeting.

ITEM #6: REPORTS
a. Design Standards, Ordinance and Rules of Procedure
Staff provided a brief update on the design standards and related materials including their current status on the
consent agenda for the BOCC’s October 5th meeting. Staff to notify the Chair if it appears that the Design
Standards may be pulled from the consent agenda and that someone from the HPC should attend the meeting
to participate in the presentation and/or be available for questions.

b. Preparation for Local Landmark Candidate
Moon reported that Jay Miller had submitted an application to consider the Murphey School for Local
Landmark status and that the application appears to be complete. Moon will prepare a staff report for the
October HPC meeting to assist the HPC in determining whether to accept the application. Accepting the
application is the first step in the designation process.

Staff explained the materials in the HPC’s packet were included as a refresher for remembering what Mr. Miller
had submitted as Part 1 of his application. Moon also suggested that members may wish to visit the site prior
to the meeting, but should avoid getting into a lengthy conversation with Mr. Miller about his project. (Mr. Miller
has extended an invitation for members and staff to visit the site.)

c. Changes to Advisory Boards Minutes & Quick Reports
Staff provided a quick summary of the BOCC’s recent review of county advisory boards. The HPC will
continue to prepare the traditional minutes for review and approval at the subsequent meeting, but the content
may become more concise.
