During the first few months of this contract, staff were hired and trained and began serving <br />families. Currently, Social Services is serving over 100 children in eight of the district's schools. <br />Billing for Medicaid is increasing each month as the number of children served increases. The <br />workers have been able to mobilize resources from within the school system as well as from <br />Social Services and other agencies to intervene with these families, <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Under the terms of this contract during the course of the fiscal year, <br />Social Services will bill Medicaid when the client and service meet the eligibility requirements. <br />All other costs for the positions will be billed to the Orange County Schools system, The <br />Orange County Schools system will pay these costs from funds within their own approved <br />budget. No costs will be borne by the County. <br />Approval of this contract in no way obligates the BOCC to provide any funding amount to <br />Orange County Schools for this particular purpose. Orange County Schaals has also been <br />cautioned that this is strictly apass-through, contractual arrangement and is not intended to be <br />seen as an increase in their continuing budget as far as state prescribed per pupil funding is <br />concerned. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board accept the <br />recommendation of the Social Services Board and renew the contract for four permanent full <br />time social worker positions to be funded through the contract, contingent on the continuation of <br />funding as specified, and authorize the Chair to sign, <br />
