<br />Decision/Vote(s): Three new board members are needed to replace Charles Hochman, Bronwyn Merritt <br />and Leah Rade. Their 6-month extended terms will expire in October, 2013. There was discussion of <br />available applicants. <br /> Action Item: OCAC board and staff will continue to work to recruit new board members. <br />Topic G <br />Discussion Point: Agenda Additions/Old Business/New Business <br />Decision/Vote(s): The Board discussed the need to increase visibility for the OCAC, especially during <br />National Arts and Humanities Month. Charles Hochman suggested having an OCAC booth at Festifall on <br />October 6, 2013. Debbie Hepp volunteered to contact the Town of Chapel Hill for a Festifall application. <br />The pricing for PSA’s for nonprofits on WUNC Public Radio was discussed. Staff reminded the OCAC board <br />that the OCAC logo is required to be on grant recipient’s promotional materials associated with their <br />funded projects. Advertising for open County board vacancies was discussed. Lindsey Alexander suggested <br />an editorial in the Chapel Hill News or The Independent and will check out possibilities. The appropriate <br />definition of a “nonprofit arts organization” was discussed, for use on our General Arts Support <br />application form. This change will be made before the Spring 2014 grant cycle. <br />Action Item: The board adopted the following part of the “nonprofit arts organization” definition used by <br />ARTS North Carolina: “A nonprofit arts organization is an organization that is exempt from income tax and <br />whose primary purpose is to create, produce, present, or support music, dance, theatre, literature, or <br />visual arts.” <br />Topic H <br /> Discussion Point: 2nd Art Moment <br /> Decision/Vote(s): Charles Hochman shared information on the upcoming NC Opera season. <br /> Action Item: Promotional materials from the NC Opera were distributed. <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM
