In order to do this,
Alamance County gave us their remaining shot. BOCC Budget Work Session 12/10/10 minutes (distributed
to OCAC board members) show that we are doing exactly what the Commissioners want us to be doing.
With the move into the Visitors Bureau location and budget, the BOCC decided to keep us doing exactly
what we have been doing since our inception. Debbie Hepp received information from the Town of
Chapel Hill on accessioning and de-accessioning artwork. We may or may not want to move forward with
this for Orange County. Gifts of artwork may not necessarily end up in the Arts Commission for review
(even though these procedures should be in place.) To date, 14 people have signed up to attend the Nov.
15th Artists’ Salon on using blogging to market artwork. Staff requested some help setting up from 6-6:30
pm. Rebecca Ray has resigned from the OCAC board. Doris Friend’s name is on the BOCC agenda for Nov.
19th. If approved, she will be taking Bronwyn Merritt’s spot, since she was the longest serving member
according to the Clerk’s Office. Please keep thinking about possible new board members. This was
highlighted in the e-newsletter, including a link to the Volunteer Application. Gordon Jameson suggested
sending a direct request to Ellen Hill, Artist Liaison for the Orange County Artists Guild (OCAG), for new
OCAC board members. Devra will ask about putting a request for new OCAC board members on the
screen at the Orange County Library in Hillsborough.
Action Item: Staff will contact Ellen Hill of the OCAG RE: Volunteer Applicants for OCAC advisory board.
