DocuSign Envelope ID:5FA4B1AC-B897-4C32-A1E4-4B4A8885A341 <br /> eRawor-R G�,�_hwderGulf <br /> �+ �F RFP for Disaster DebrisClearance and Removal Services <br /> Orange County, NG <br /> 2012 Tropical Storms Beryl and Debby; Hurricanes Isaac and Sand <br /> Tropical Storms Beryl and Debby - Following two early season tropical storms, <br /> CrowderGulf was activated for debris removal in Nassau County, FL; Polk County, FL; and <br /> the Town of Fort Myers Beach, FL, The work consisted of hauling and reducing vegetative <br /> debris and'cleaning and restoring beaches. <br /> Hurricane Isaac- CrowderGulf had nine contracts activated across three states. Our work <br /> ranged from providing emergency "Push" operations in Key West, FL, sand removal and <br /> sand screening for the Town of Dauphin Island, AL, to debris removal and reduction, <br /> providing generators and removal of hazardous leaners and hangers. <br /> Hurricane Sandy—This late season storm at the end of October affected the entire Eastern <br /> Seaboard from Florida to the New England states. By far, the greatest damage was inflicted <br /> on the New York and New Jersey coasts. <br /> As part of the"Superstorm Sandy"cleanup,the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection(NJ>DEP) <br /> awarded three waterway contracts in January,2013.CrowderGuif was awarded the central coast of New Jersey where <br /> the worst damage occurred. In this area, the ocean surged over the densely populated chain of barrier islands and <br /> into Barnegat Bay causing massive destruction to the homes in its path. As a result, debris,sand, and multiple homes <br /> were washed into the Bay. Some homes were left almost intact white others were torn apart and strewn across the Bay <br /> waters. <br /> CrowderGulf was tasked with removing all storm related debris from the Bay and all tributaries in the central region of <br /> New Jersey, including wetlands and salt marshes. Submerged debris required using side scan sonar to locate and <br /> document the submerged storm debris. CrowderGulf conducted side scan sonar, evaluated the results, and then <br /> directed crews to remove the identified debris. Over 100,000 cubic yards of submerged and floating debris were <br /> removed; <br /> Crews completed the removal of eligible floating and submerged debris in approximately eight months. Part of this <br /> operation was the management of the aggregate site for the vessels and vehicles removed from the waterways,which <br /> included 6 vehicles and 117 vessels. The total project value for this contract with the NJDEP was over$57,000,000. <br /> The Sandy waterway project in New Jersey presented several unique situations such as the requirement that no <br /> waterway debris could touch the ground. The debris had to be off-loaded directly into a debris hauling truck and taken <br /> to the final disposal site. CrowderGulf had to secure several off-loads sites and each site had to be approved by the <br /> NJDEP. Both public and private sites were identified and all necessary documentation secured before any site was <br /> used. <br /> Besides removing eligible submerged debris, four large homes that were pushed into Barnegat Bay had to be <br /> demolished and removed. This was a slow and careful process conducted on the water using long-reach track hoes <br /> with grapples on barges to take the houses apart and load the debris onto debris barges.The house debris was taken <br /> to the off-load site and loaded into the hauling trucks for disposal. <br /> The tremendous amount of debris that was deposited in the wetlands and salt marshes presented another unique <br /> situation.CrowderGulf was tasked with removing the eligible debris while ensuring minimal disturbance to these areas. <br /> CrowderGulf used specialized low ground pressure amphibious equipment to minimize further damage to the sensitive <br /> areas. In addition, all work was scheduled to accommodate the endangerediprotected species In the region. Another <br /> unique aspect of this contract was the removal of over 300,O00 cubic yards of displaced sediment that Sandy washed <br /> into Barnegat Bay. The operation involved mechanical dredging,hydrographic surveying,staging the dredged sediment <br /> for drying, screening the sediment, replacing beach quality sand on the ocean side, and hauling the remainder of the <br /> sediment and debris to a certified disposal site. <br /> 77 <br />
