Records <br /> legally required for ongoing official proceedings, such as Outstanding litigation, claims, audits, <br /> or other official actions, must be maintained for the duration of that action, notwithstanding the <br /> instructions of the NC DHHS record retention and disposition schedule. <br /> In addition to record retention requirements for records in any format, the long-term and/or <br /> permanent preservation of electronic records require additional commitment and active <br /> management by agencies.
