Orange County NC Website
5
problematic from an operational standpoint. If the entire Efland-Cheeks and Buckhorn Road EDD
portion of the Orange-Alamance service area were built out, an additional water demand of
approximately 0.4 to 0.5 mgd might be generated. However, from a land use perspective, Orange
County policy makers have not yet determined that the community should be built out to the extent that
such a water demand (and wastewater disposal demand) would be generated.
In conclusion, OWASA has generated water demand and water supply capacity projections that justify
maintaining a Jordan Lake water supply allocation, albeit an allocation that is significantly reduced.
Orange County, however, will find it difficult to justify maintaining ain allocation where it must rely on
the good offices of others to withdraw, treat and convey the water to some point within the County and
on the capacity of yet others to distribute it to water users.
If I may provide additional information, please advise.
