Provide three high-quality arts experiences to all 485 <br /> (approximately) students. <br /> 2. Introduce students to a range of art forms including music, <br /> performance art, and theater. <br /> 3. Feature a diverse group of performers and stories from around the <br /> world that complement our school's multicultural programming. <br /> Cirruculum and Carrboro Elementary adheres to the North Carolina Standard Course <br /> Enrichment of Study for guidance in curriculum standards and all of the artists <br /> we have chosen align closely with our curriculum objectives. For <br /> example, an essential outcome in the State arts curriculum is K.CRA <br /> Understand global, interdisciplinary, and 21st century connections <br /> with music. Both Kim So Rah and Sonia de los Santos will help CES <br /> fulfill the objective of having students recognize the relationships <br /> between music and concepts from other areas of the world. <br /> The Mike Wiley performance will tie in with the NC Social Studies <br /> Standards. In particular, 3.H.2 Use historical thinking skills to <br /> understand the context of events, people and places. Using Mike <br /> Wiley's narrative performance of events in U.S. history and the study <br /> guide he provides, teachers will be able to guide students in drawing <br /> parallels between contemporary issues and their historical origins. <br /> Audience Description 491 total students (2018/2019 school year) - total number and <br /> percentage of school population <br /> White: 267 54% <br /> Black: 24 .05% <br /> Hispanic: 153 31% <br /> Asian: 17 .03% <br /> American Indian: 3 .006% <br /> Multi: 27 18 % <br /> Male: 249 51% <br /> Female: 242 49% <br /> ESL: 96 20 % <br /> Free & Reduced Lunch - estimated 33% <br />
