To keep <br /> publicized and parents and families informed about the program, letters are sent <br /> promoted to reach home to parents prior to the start of residencies explaining the art <br /> intended focus and curriculum goals, as well as inviting them to come observe <br /> participants? the last session. Teachers and PTAs also include information about <br /> the residencies in their classroom and school newsletters, and the <br /> district promotes the residencies via Facebook. Teachers often times <br /> host `parent nights' to coincide with residencies as a way to <br /> showcase what students have learned. In addition, Orange County <br /> Schools hosts a district-wide event every Spring called Cultural <br /> Explosion, and every year several grade levels from schools <br /> participating in the Artist in Residence program participate either by <br /> hosting booths displaying created work or participating in <br /> performances. <br /> The ArtsCenter has a very successful School Show Series, and all <br /> students participating in the Artist in Residence program come to the <br /> theater to see shows directly linked to what they are learning in their <br /> classrooms. The School Show Series draws students from many <br /> different counties for field trips. Before the shows begin, the Artist in <br /> Residence program is promoted so other schools are aware of <br /> residency offerings. The School Show Series, as well as the Artist in <br /> Residence program, is also publicized through a color poster that is <br /> disseminated to all area schools, as well as through social media. <br /> How will you The Artist in Residence program will be evaluated through student <br /> evaluate the success and teacher evaluations administered by The ArtsCenter. These <br /> of the program? evaluations will assess the effectiveness of the program in regard to <br /> student engagement, ability to understand covered curriculum <br /> concepts and impact on teachers. The ArtsCenter's Arts in <br /> Education Coordinator will also meet with all teachers following the <br /> residencies for evaluation sessions, where they will discuss <br /> strengths of the program, impacts they observed and areas to be <br /> strengthened. Teachers will assess students' understanding of <br /> curriculum through pre and post tests before and following <br /> residencies, as well as informal assessments. <br />
