I design and produce
hand made one of a kind pieces from vintage, recycled materials and
new materials such as silk and cotton. Many of my clients keep their
pieces displayed on a wall, as a painting. They are all unique pieces
of clothing or accessories.
Because the clothing and accessories are unique, I do not sell them
at conventional stores or boutiques. I design and produce a Fashion-
Art Show for each new collection and have the collection to view, try
on and purchase after each show. I have had 10 sladesign Fashion-
Art shows since 2007. The last one I had was a pop up Catwalk Art
Show at The Carrack Modern Art in Durham in 2017.
Many community members and past clients have been asking when I
will have the next sladesign Fashion-Art Show.
I will be collaborating with Ron Liberti on some of the pieces. He is a
local Artist-Designer-Silkscreener and Musician. He will provide a
King Size cotton silkscreened sheet that I will chop up and sew into
skirts and dresses with additional silks and cottons.
Liberti will also have silkscreened Art Work to display and sell during
and after the show.
There will be two opportunities to see the show: December 13th at
The Station, during the Carrboro, Chapel Hill Art Walk and the
following Friday December 20th at Smelt Art Gallery in Pittsboro.
The music at The Station will be provided by Liberti spinning records
and at Smelt we will have a live band, probably one of which he is a
member.
At both venues, I will curate and hang the show according to the
space. After the show at Smelt Art Gallery, the show, Liberti's art work
and my collection will be on display and for sale until the end of the
year.
Community Impact Both Orange County and Chatham County will benefit from this
amazing show. People will be exposed to a non-conventional
Fashion-Art Show with hand made one of a kind pieces.
I will give a free sewing workshop (maximum 10 people) at Smelt Art
Gallery to learn how to upcycle an ugly t-shirt or make a skirt out of a
shirt. This will take place Saturday December 28th from 2pm-6pm.
People interested must bring their own sewing machines and
materials.
