Project/Program During the 2019-20 school year, the Phillips PTSA has contracted Summary with The ArtsCenter to provide four performances, three of which will be presented to a single grade and the fourth that will be presented to all three grades. The first performance will be presented to 6th grade students (currently 225 students), the second to 8th grade students (currently 223 students), and the third to 7th grade students (currently 216 students) as follows. Kim So Ra ($800 per show) September, date TBD (grades 6-8) Children's Theatre of Charlotte: Accidental Friends ($1000 per show) October, date TBD (7th grade) Mike Wiley: Tired Souls ($1100 per show) October, date TBD (8th grade) Sonia de los Santos ($900 per show) March, date TBD (6th grade) Project Start Date August 27, 2019 (first day of 2019-20 school year) (no earlier than July 1 , 2019) Project End Date (no June 12, 2020 (first day of 2019-20 school year) later than June 30, 2020) Project Goals Believing that exposure to the arts enhances every student's education and personal growth, the Phillips Middle School PTSA supports student learning by bringing a variety of professional artists to perform at our school. It is expected that a student at Phillips Middle School will be exposed to at least four different types of performances during their three years at the school, including but not limited to dance, music, plays, storytelling, acrobatics, etc. Most years, the PTSA underwrites four performances at the school: one performance attended by all students that is held in the school gymnasium and one performance for each grade to be held in the school auditorium.
