DocuSign Envelope ID:39D79395-43FF-4C9D-AAA1-F90C06B72BE8
Artist Experience We, Jan-Ru Wan have 20 years of cumulative experience working in the
medium of textiles, and has extensive experience with large-scale,
multifaceted public sector arts projects, most recently with In Cloth We
Remember (2014-15), which was a joint partnership between the artists, Cary
Art Center, Cary Senior Center and the Cary Teen Council. Over the course
of eight months, the Wan collected articles of clothing from citizens,
recorded their associated stories and memories, and transformed the
clothing into a permanent art installation at the Cary Art Center. Then Wan
cut the donated clothing and pieced fragments together to make panels.
Through a series of workshops held at the Cary Senior Center, participants
screen-printed, embroidered and stitched on the panels, adding their
personal touch and perspective. Teens from the Cary Teen Council
documented the entire process and made a short documentary film. (See
video at this link). Prior to that project, Jan-Ru Wan completed a similar
public sector permanent installation at the Seymour Senior Center in Chapel
Hill in 2011-12, Up Close and Personal.
Below is the video of testimony from the participants for both projects.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5xfemgn9apagzfk/CommunityProject_Cloth.mov
d I=0
PROJECT/PROGRAM Please fill out the charts below with your project's expenses and income.
BUDGET Use the "Explanation" box to offer details for each category.
