VOICES also hosts social
generate revenue. events for our larger donors (external and member) at least annually and
provides complementary tickets to these supporters. External donations
are solicited on the website and in every program, including information
on legacy giving.
Realizing that our members are our primary source of revenue, the
Board initiated steps to re-create a culture of organizational ownership in
2018 and 2019. Social events (A Season Opening party and a Wrap Party
in 2019) were well-received and helped to increase the culture of social
ownership as well as fiscal responsibility. Membership increased over
the 2019 season, in positive response to Stephen Futrell's style,
musicianship, and diverse programming. Additional members increase
revenue from dues, ticket sales, donations, and fundraisers.
Members solicit advertisements from area merchants and corporations
for publication in our program. This program is used for all our concerts,
increasing the appeal for advertisers, and historically generates -10%of
the operating funds. Chorus members undertake one major fundraiser in
the Fall (pecan sales) which generated about $4,000 in income last year.
A new Spring fundraiser was initiated in 2019. The GoFundMe campaign
met its' goal of $5,000 and will be used again next year.
A program to solicit corporate and foundation sponsorships was
launched in the 2019 season and will be expanded in 2020. Members
also have increased their employers' matching contributions by almost
300% in 2019. Additionally, Voices has been activated as a non-profit
choice on both Amazon Smile and Giving Assistant rebate programs.
While small in total amount now, donations from these sources should
grow with member awareness.
VOICES has been blessed to receive an endowment in honor of Joel J.
and Eleanor Cely Carter, created by their children. It has steadily grown
to a current balance of about $37,000. This fund exists specifically to
showcase new composers or support commissions of new choral works.
It can also be used to meet unexpected operating needs. FY2018 income
figures also reflect a successful campaign to fund an endowment in
honor the artistic legacy of our Director of 18 years, Sue Klausmeyer.
This fund will eventually support unique instrumentalists, organists,
soloists, and other enrichment needs. High-grade secure investment
vehicles have been researched and selected, which will provide passive
growth of the principle while future campaigns will actively grow these
assets.
NOTE FOR Only requests for program/project funds need to submit a
PANELISTS program/project budget. Requests for operating funds should be
evaluated using the organization's financial docs submitted under
"Organization Information."
Resumes of artists/administrators
Futrell_Bio_with_pic_2018_0724.docx
