The MES mission is to
support the academic and personal growth of all students through a
positive, inclusive and collaborative culture, The MES Vision is:
Together we learn. Together we grow. Together we celebrate success
as we go. Since the school opened in 1996, MES has demonstrated
its strong commitment to the arts, which we view as an important
aspect of making this mission and vision a reality for all students.
The MES arts curriculum is based on the Common Core and NC
Essential Standards. The MES arts faculty - including Erin
Rasmussen as the art teacher and Chelsea Kutner as the music
teacher - plan and implement an academically engaging and
enriching arts curriculum for the entire student body. All students
participate in arts education and creative expression in the MES Art
and Music classes that are offered several times a week throughout
the school year.
The MES Parent Teacher Association (PTA) works hand in hand with
the school's administration and teachers to help make every child's
potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and
communities to advocate for all children. The PTA provides a link
between school, home and the wider community. We work together
to organize events and raise funds to support children's learning and
to make the environment at MES the best it can be. To enhance and
complement the school's arts curriculum, the MES PTA Cultural Arts
Program aims to sponsor three or more high-quality, diverse
professional performances each year. The performances are
presented to all MES students at assemblies that take place during
the school day. We are grateful for many years of OCAC grant
funding support, which has enabled the PTA to consistently offer
these performances to students. To round out our Cultural Arts
Program, the PTA also funds a pottery residency for 4th grade
students and a poetry residency for 5th grade students.
During FY19-20, will No
your organization
receive operational
support funding from
the North Carolina
Arts Council or the
North Carolina
Department of
Natural and Cultural
Resources?
Organization's EIN 561976886
Organization http://mes.chccs.kl2.nc.us/
Website
