Each of the four Cultural Arts Assemblies will be shown to half <br /> of the school's population (either K-2 or 3-5). <br /> Project Start Date September 23, 2019 <br /> (no earlier than July <br /> 1 , 2019) <br /> Project End Date (no March 6, 2020 <br /> later than June 30, <br /> 2020) <br /> Project Goals Presenting the Arts Performances is a way that the PTA seeks to <br /> enrich students' education at school and to provide both exposure <br /> to and participation in novel artistic experiences. <br /> Cirruculum and Children's Theatre of Charlotte performance "True Story of 3 Little <br /> Enrichment Pigs" explores Language Arts curriculum as it examines character <br /> education, story organization and debate through the enriching form <br /> of a theatre piece. <br /> Mike Wiley performance, "Jackie Robinson: A Game Apart" explores <br /> history and character education in this engaging, theatre <br /> performance. <br /> Curious Theatre Collective performance, "Sally's Ride: To Space and <br /> Beyond!" ties into science and history curriculum as well as <br /> character education in this interactive performing arts piece. <br /> Curious Theatre Collective performance, "Creekside: The Journey of <br /> a Young Activist" ties into history, science and character education <br /> while engaging students through this theatre performance. <br /> Audience Description The demographics of the school population are as follows. <br /> • Approximately 12%of students self-identify as African American. <br /> • Approximately 14% of students self-identify as Hispanic. <br /> • Approximately 19%of students self-identify as Asian and Other <br /> Race. <br /> • Approximately 55%of students self-identify as White. <br /> • 30%of the student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch. <br /> • 18%of students use English as a second language. <br /> • 19% of school population is identified as Exceptional Children <br /> including two self-contained classrooms of four children in each <br /> classroom, 54 students with Individual Education Plans, and 26 <br /> students with Section 504 Accommodation Plans. <br /> Location Description All Cultural Arts Assemblies are held in the school's Gymnasium, <br /> which provides all access for any handicapped individuals and a <br /> loading door with direct access to vehicle for artist load in/load out. <br />
