Kathie has <br /> over 30 years experience as a puppeteer and has written three <br /> puppet curriculum guides. Kathie has performed many puppet shows <br /> in the USA and Germany. Kathie was awarded the Meritorious Service <br /> Award by the Department of Defense Dependents School System for <br /> her puppetry work with elementary children on coping with <br /> deployment and war. Kathie has been recognized several times as <br /> the Support Teacher of the Year at a Chapel Hill Elementary School. <br /> She has presented numerous puppetry workshops at state <br /> conferences and universities. Kathie founded Puppet Show <br /> Incorporated in August 2017 as a non-profit organization as a way to <br /> continue the ancient form of puppetry as a form of artistic expression <br /> and to keep cultural traditions alive. <br /> PSI is a small non-profit that does not pay salaries and relies on <br /> volunteers. Puppet Show Incorporated has a dedicated group of high <br /> school and college volunteers that assist with the puppetry arts <br /> programs. The student volunteers are multicultural artists (African <br /> American, Asian, White and Filipino). They are not hired employees, <br /> but they are very much a big part of the puppetry programs. Chapel Hill Magazine, Chapelboro, Chapel Hill Visitors Bureau, WRAL <br /> Out and About, Go Ask Mom, Visit Orange County, Town of Carrboro <br /> and others. In addition, the information is provided to the Student <br /> Support Directors in the Orange County and Chapel Hill Carrboro City <br /> School systems to disseminate among their student support staff <br /> (nurses, social workers, counselors, school psychologist) to contact <br /> underserved families about the free enrichment opportunities at the <br /> libraries. <br />
