i. Mike will talk about “Are you Current on your Resume” at upcoming workshops in <br />September <br />ii. Updating employment guide for distribution and posting in multiple venues including, all <br />libraries and online Cybrary. <br />iii. “Ask Mike” sessions starting in Hillsborough 60-90 minutes per session. <br />iv. Partnered with NCBA-Title V Senior Worker Program and doing 2 job fairs for them. <br />Partnered with Orange County Correctional to offer workshops. October 2: DSS Job Fair. <br />v. Promoting and educating employers that it is “good business” to hire persons age 55+ <br />vi. Looking at ways to get tax credits/incentives for people who hire persons age 55+ <br /> <br />Continuing Projects <br />11. Project EngAGE – Class 5 begins September 12: Shenae reported that they are excited about the new <br />class which has a very diverse group of 14 participants. There will be 13 sessions. Speakers have been <br />confirmed <br /> <br />Committee Progress Reports if needed: <br />12. Dementia Friendly Business Campaign <br />a. No report <br />13. Senior Tar Heel Legislature <br />a. Dick White reported that the STH Legislature will be meeting Oct. 1-2 in Raleigh. Voting to be <br />held on for new administration and top 5 goals for people to advocate for to the legislature. <br />Dick will be attending. <br />14. Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee <br />a. No report <br />15. Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />a. Vibeke Talley reported that Brookshire Nursing Center, previously privately owned, has been <br />bought by Peak Resources, Inc. as of Aug. 1. <br />16. Housing <br />a. Dick White reported that the Orange County Housing Coalition will present to the Senior <br />Housing Collaborative on August 27 at 5:30 p.m. in Chapel Hill, all are invited. Jackson Center <br />will find, buy and rent houses to families in need preventing properties from being bought up <br />by investors, and keeping those available to low-income families. Green tract development set- <br />back, but hopefully something will happen in the future. <br />17. Friends of the Passmore Center <br />a. No report <br />18.
