9 <br /> CHAPEL <br /> :.•. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY VISITORS BUREAU <br /> August 27, 2019 <br /> To: Orange County Board of County Commissioners c/o Clerk's Office <br /> From: Laurie Paolicelli, Director, Orange County Visitors Bureau <br /> Re: Nomination for Advisory Board seat <br /> At its August 21, 2019 Advisory Board meeting, the Orange County Visitors Bureau Board's <br /> nominating committee brought forth the following nomination for consideration: <br /> Shailan "Sam" Vadgama, General Manager, Residence Inn Chapel Hill <br /> Mr. Vadgama has been nominated to fill the seat of Andrew Strickland who left the AC by <br /> Marriott to accept a position in Durham with Summit Hospitality's sales division, overseeing <br /> sales for Durham properties. <br /> The seat is that of an Orange County hotelier with 100 plus rooms. <br /> Mr. Vadgama has served Orange County hotels since 2013. He is a seasoned hospitality <br /> professional with a solid track record of driving revenue growth and demonstrating leadership <br /> and dedication to all aspects of hotel operations including rooms department, food and <br /> beverage operations, and sales development. His career has centered on building credible <br /> relationships with clients as well as associates to help them achieve success. He has a strong <br /> expertise in budgets, forecasts, insightful reporting, data analysis and market insights, project <br /> management, sales enablement, P & L goal attainment, and team development. <br /> Thank you to the BOCC for consideration. <br />
