As a long term resident of the county, I know <br /> the parks, the farms, and the cities. I ve hiked all the trails, read the history and explored the <br /> lesser known areas of the county. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> I am very interested in helping to establish/promote eco-tourism and historical tourism. However, I can say that <br /> through my work with the vocational training program at Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools, I do <br /> think there could be a closer working relationship between Orange County's public schools and <br /> Durham Tech. I'd also like to see a close working relationship with the Economic Development <br /> Office if it doesn't already exist. Finally, I would like to see greater emphasis placed on adult <br /> basic literacy.
