10 <br /> CHAPEL HILL <br /> :.•. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY VISITORS BUREAU <br /> August 27, 2019 <br /> To: Orange County Board of County Commissioners c/o Clerk's Office <br /> From: Laurie Paolicelli, Director, Orange County Visitors Bureau <br /> Cc: Maurice Jones, Manager of the Town of Chapel Hill <br /> Re: Nomination for Advisory Board seat <br /> At its August 21, 2019 Advisory Board meeting,the Orange County Visitors Bureau Board's nominating <br /> committee brought forth the following nomination for consideration: <br /> Anita "Spring" Council for the position of Economic Development with the Town of Chapel Hill. <br /> This position is an at-large seat and replaces, Lee Storrow, who served at the request of Roger Stancil, <br /> Chapel Hill Town Manager, with approval of the Board of Orange County Commissioners. <br /> Currently, Maurice Jones is responsible for nominating a resident and he has asked that the Board <br /> please consider Ms. Council. <br /> Anita Spring Council is the daughter of the late Mildred Council, better known as"Mama Dip," who <br /> started and owned the restaurant. Mama Dip's cooking and life story earned her a large fan base <br /> beyond the community of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. After her passing, in 2018, her children, including <br /> Spring, operate the restaurant in Chapel Hill. <br /> Spring resides in Orange County and remains active in the community's downtown, its restaurant and <br /> hospitality industry and supporting the health of Orange County through sound economic development <br /> initiatives. <br /> Thank you for the consideration. <br />
