MINUTES ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES July 15, 2019 1 THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MET ON MONDAY: July 15, 2019 at the Hillsborough Commons, Hillsborough, North Carolina. BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBERS PRESENT: Tamara Dempsey-Tanner, Pat Garavaglia, Ann Wilkerson, and Jamezetta Bedford. GUEST: None. BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES MEMBER S ABSENT: Susie Enoch. STAFF PRESENT: Nancy Coston, Director; Lindsey Shewmaker, Human Services Manager; and Sharron Hinton, Human Services Manager. I. Call to Order and Introductions DSS Chair, Tamara Dempsey-Tanner, called the meeting to order at 4:06 pm. II. Board Comments Pat Garavaglia asked whether the agency had any migrant children in custody or is working with any of these children. Nancy Coston asked if this could be brought back to another meeting. III. Public Comments None. IV. Agenda Changes Lindsey Shewmaker requested that adoption of the updated General Records Schedule for Local Government Agencies be added to the agenda. V. Action Items On a motion by Pat Garavaglia, the Board approved the minutes of June 2019. Ann Wilkerson seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. VI. Items for Discussion and/or Decision 1. Adoption of Records Retention Schedule On a motion by Tamara Dempsey-Tanner, the Board approved the General Records Schedule for Local Government Agencies issued on March 1, 2019. Jamezetta Bedford seconded the motion. The motion was carried without dissent. 2. Medicaid Transformation The open enrollment period began today for Medicaid Managed Care. Clients received packe ts last week outlining the new plans. There is an outreach worker onsite at the agency five days per week beginning today.
