FY 2001-2002 FY 1999 2000 I <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> DRAFT GOAL <br /> Adopted: 06/21/99 <br /> Revised: 11/17/00 <br /> Revised: 05/11/00 <br /> Revised: 11/22/00 <br /> HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br /> GOAL STATEMENT: Implement the goals and objectives of the Historic Preservation Element of the Comprehensive Plan <br /> Goal Initiated/Proposed By: Board of County Commissioners/Historic Preservation Commission <br /> Most Recent Version Adopted by BOCC: June 21, 1999 <br /> STATUS REPORT <br /> This goal seeks to carry out the goals and objectives in the Historic Preservation Element of the Comprehensive Plan,which was adopted by the Board in <br /> April, 1996.Work in FY 1999-2000 includes completion of the St.Mary's Road/Trading Path Historic Corridor project,which include money from both <br /> the State Historic Preservation Office and local matching dollars.Other projects include publishing of a Historic Architecture manuscript.No National <br /> Register nominations were feasible for 1999-2000,but pursuit of a possible Local Landmark Designation is ongoing. The objectives in this goal for FY <br /> 1999 2000 2001-2002 are consistent with revisions made last year.Proposed areas of focus for FY 2002 will include-completion of the History of Orange <br /> County Architecture manuscript,recommendations on the St.Mary's Road Corridor,design guidelines for Local Landmark program(as required by the <br /> State Historic Preservation Office),and consideration of a potential CLG grant submittal(Chatwood area or another feasible project).The timetables in this <br /> goal have been adjusted to reflect thew annual nature of some objectives,the need for public outreach and education on the St.Mary's Road project,and <br /> delays resulting from staff vacancies and transition of membership on the Historic Preservation Commission. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT/RESOURCE REQUIREMENTS <br /> Completion of this goal will involve both local and grant funding(if available). .In addition,the following commitment of existing staff <br /> resources from the ERCD will be required:Land Use and Preservation Planner,ERC Director, Administrative Assistant H and Resource <br /> Conservation Technician. Approximately 1200 hours of volunteer time from the Historic Preservation Commission is also needed to <br /> accomplish the goals. <br /> • <br />
