1 <br /> APPROVED 09/03/2019 <br /> MINUTES <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> June 18, 2019 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 <br /> at 7:00 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Penny Rich and Commissioners Jamezetta <br /> Bedford, Mark Dorosin, Sally Greene, Earl McKee, Mark Marcoplos, and Renee Price <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> Travis Myren and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br /> appropriately below) <br /> Chair Rich called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> Chair Rich noted the following proposed changes to the agenda: <br /> • Blue sheet: Proposed Addition to Consent Agenda - Item 8-x— FY Budget amendment <br /> #11-c <br /> • Defer Item 11-I: Orange County Climate Council At-Large Appointment in order to go <br /> through our regular advertisement/application process <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Marcoplos to <br /> approve these additions to the agenda. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Chair Rich noted the following items at the Commissioners' places: <br /> • White sheet: 2 PowerPoint presentations for Item 6-d (Bus Rapid Transit - BRT) <br /> • 6a - hand out - Board of County Commissioners salary information for budget <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> Chair Rich acknowledged the public charge. <br /> Arts Moment <br /> Katie Murray, Arts Commission Director, introduced Mimi Herman: <br /> Mimi Herman is the 2017 North Carolina Piedmont Laureate and a Kennedy Center Teaching <br /> Artist. Mimi holds a BA from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren <br /> Wilson College, and is the author of Logophilia and The Art of Learning. Her writing has <br /> appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, Shenandoah, Crab Orchard Review, The Hollins Critic <br /> and other journals.
