Fikes, ext 2490 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 9fi8-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 33fi-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To award one housing rehabilitation contract for the HOME Housing Rehabilitation <br />Program. <br />BACKGR ND The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from <br />qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's Housing Rehabilitation <br />Program. The informal bidding process is governed by the North Carolina General Statues <br />§143-131 and does not require a minimum number of bids. Additionally, present program <br />procedures provide that housing rehabilitation contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible <br />bidder. <br />Sealed bids were solicited from participating contractors on February 21, 2001. Bid results are <br />attached. Three bids were received for the unit with Taylor Home Improvements submitting the <br />lowest responsible bid for the dwelling unit. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The HOME Investment Partnership Program provides funding for this <br />program. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends awarding the following housing <br />rehabilitation contract: <br />Dwelling Unit Bid Amount Contractor <br />114 Glossop Circle, Carrboro $23,350 Taylor Home Improvements <br />
