Easement Sketch Craig Benedict, Planning Director, 245- <br /> 2575 <br /> John Roberts, County Attorney, 245- <br /> 2318 <br /> Anne Marie Tosco, Staff Attorney, 245- <br /> 2320 <br /> PURPOSE: To authorize the acquisition/dedication of utility easements to facilitate extension of <br /> public sewer to the Northern Campus Project. <br /> BACKGROUND: Orange County authorized the process for the purchase of land for the <br /> Northern Campus on April 3, 2018. The site plan for the Northern Campus includes the <br /> extension of Hillsborough public sewer along adjacent properties to serve the site from the <br /> southeast corner. <br /> Although the County is pursuing easement acquisition through voluntary and compensatory <br /> means, specific authority is also needed from the BOCC to obtain easement by condemnation, if <br /> necessary. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Monies are available in the Capital Investment Plan (CIP) budget to <br /> accommodate compensation and/or condemnation. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to <br /> this item: <br /> • ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: The following Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact is applicable to this item: <br /> • ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND WASTE REDUCTION <br /> Initiate policies and programs that: 1) conserve energy; 2) reduce resource <br /> consumption; 3) increase the use of recycled and renewable resources; and 4) minimize <br /> waste stream impacts on the environment. <br />
