21 <br /> 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of Commissioners does <br /> 2 hereby 1) accept on behalf of Orange County the conservation easement for land owned by <br /> 3 Nels and Nancy Anderson; 2) approve the execution of this conservation easement agreement <br /> 4 with Nels and Nancy Anderson, in accordance with the terms of the proposed easement <br /> 5 agreement, subject to final review by staff and the County Attorney; 3) authorize the Chair and <br /> 6 the Clerk to sign the easement agreement on behalf of the Board, with a closing to occur on or <br /> 7 about September 30, 2019; and 4) authorize County staff to sign any and all closing documents <br /> 8 upon consultation with the County Attorney. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board thanks Nels and Nancy Anderson for their civic- <br /> II minded granting of this conservation easement through the Lands Legacy Program. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 This the 4th day of June, 2019. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Commissioner Marcoplos asked if staff is sending a thank you letter to Raleigh for its <br /> 16 assistance in funding this easement. <br /> 17 David Stancil said staff has done so in the past, and can do so again after the closing, <br /> 18 etc. <br /> 19 Commissioner Greene said she will mention gratitude at the next UNRBA, as she is the <br /> 20 BOCC representative. She said there is ongoing discussion about being able to claim that <br /> 21 preservation of land does help with the health of the lake, as it is better to not put pollutants in <br /> 22 the lake in the first place, as opposed to taking them out after the fact. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 A motion was made by Commissioner Bedford, seconded by Commissioner Marcoplos <br /> 25 for the Board to adopt and authorize the Chair to sign the all three resolutions (for win) <br /> 26 approving the acceptance by Orange County of the conservation easements, and authorize the <br /> 27 Chair and the Clerk to sign the conservation easement agreements, subject to final review by <br /> 28 staff and County Attorney, with a closing and recordation of the documents expected to occur <br /> 29 on or about September 30, 2019, and approve Budget Amendment#10-A, #10-B and #10-C. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 32 <br /> 33 g. Resolution Endorsing HR 1384— Improved Medicare for All <br /> 34 The Board considered voting to approve a Resolution Endorsing HR 1384 - <br /> 35 Improved Medicare for All and authorize the Chair to sign. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 BACKGROUND: Based on a petition submitted at the Board's May 21, 2019 meeting, the <br /> 38 attached resolution is proposed for Board consideration. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 PUBLIC COMMENT: <br /> 41 Nina Schlosky said she is here on behalf of the local community organization Healthcare for All <br /> 42 Y'all, whose goal is to provide information on how to solve current healthcare problems. She <br /> 43 said as a country, the United States pays twice as much for healthcare, and many people do not <br /> 44 even have healthcare. She said over 100 congressmen endorse this bill, and they are trying to <br /> 45 gather local support for this bill.
