22
1
2 FINANCIAL IMPACT: The adopted Orange County Transit Plan currently allocates $6.1 M to
3 the North South BRT project. The proposed amendment (Attachment 1) would dedicate an
4 additional $81VI to the project in fiscal years FY2020 through FY2023.
5
6 Sufficient dedicated transit revenues are available to fund this addition. The lowest Transit Plan
7 fund balance during this scheduled draw down of dedicated transit revenues would occur in
8 FY2022 when the balance is estimated to be $929,500 under current assumptions.
9
10 If outside funding is secured by the Town of Chapel Hill for this project, the financial obligations
11 of the Transit Plan will be relieved, up to $8 million.
12
13 Brian Litchfield, Chapel Hill Transit Director, made the following PowerPoint
14 presentation:
15
16 Chapel Hill Transit North-South BRT
17 Orange County Board of County Commissioners
18 June 18, 2019
19
20 BRT Context and Vision
21 Prepares the Town and funding partners to meet mobility demand as the region
22 continues to grow:
23 Current system close to maximum capacity
24 Proposed system provides a long-term, scalable solution for residents and visitors
25 — Possible extensions North and South.
