Interviewin; apt the County Jails <br />A. The Evaluator/Coordinator obtains the confinement list by 7:30 a.m. each weekday <br />(ylon.-Fri.) in the Orange County Jail. The Evaluator/Coordinator obtains a copy of the <br />confinement list at the Orange County Jail. Interviewing takes place each weekday in the <br />Orange County Jail. A copy of the confinement list is requested from the, jailzrs at thz <br />Chatham County Jail when interviewing on Monday grid Thursday. Tuesday. ti~'zdnesda.: <br />and Friday, the Chatham County confinement list is requested to be faxed to the <br />Alternative Sentencing aff ce from the Sheriffs Office. During periods when the <br />Chatham County Jail is over the bed capacity (such as during the weelts~Superior Court is <br />in session there) visits for interviewing will, be made more frequently than twice during <br />the weekdays (Mon.-Fri.). <br />B. The Evaluator/Coordinator notes the total population number at the top of the <br />confinement list if not already indicated. The number of female inmates is also noted. <br />C. The Evaluator/Coordinator selects inmates for interviewing who have charges at arrest <br />that make them potentially releasable tivithout risking the community's safetti~. Felonies <br />that are property and drug crimes are suitable. Common Law Robbery is a suitable <br />offense`. vlisdemeanors are suitable for interviewing unless they have a no bond stan~s. <br />In this case, the Evaluator/Coordinator will find out the reason for the no bond status. <br />When ~ inmate is arrested for a probation violation. the inrnate_will be interviewed to <br />find out who his/her officer is and the Evaluator/Coordinator will contact that officer. <br />The Evaluator/Coordinator's goal is to interview as many suitable candidates, as are <br />available, in selecting inmates for interviews. The information, discovered in the <br />interview is not simply foz release but also for expediting the cases of all inmates. <br />Information obtained in the inmate intzrviews is processed to any agency that may <br />facilitate in the immediate release and also. when indicated. to reduce recidivism. The <br />likelihood of recidivism may be reduced when a person senCenced to time or bond <br />payment toward child support is referred and released on the condition of complying with <br />
