It should be noted that the work of the Legislative Issues Task Force to this point is based on
the current information available and the outlook for the 2001 General Assembly Session. The
issues addressed by the Task Force and incorporated into the draft resolutions and proposed
bills may evolve and change over the session and require additional .attention by the Task Force
and Board of Commissioners. New issues may also arise necessitating additional review.
It should also be noted that the Legislative Issues Task Force will meet again in the near future
to discuss the County's legislative process and lobbying plans for the 2001 legislative session.
A starting point for Task Force discussion will be the 2000 legislative process document
adopted by the Board last year, and the issues to be addressed will include partnering with
other entities, a format to address the need for an immediate County position on a particular
legislative .proposal, and other topics.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board proceed as it desires
based on the public hearing.
