The grant is based on the county population and a share <br />of the program cost. Counties with over 200,000 population are eligible fora 100% matching <br />cost based on certain emergency management functions. Counties with less than 200,000 <br />population are eligible fora 50% match. The grants are awarded each year and may vary <br />depending on the federal funding available. <br />StafF pursued applying for the grant as part of the budget process last year and was awarded a <br />grant in the amount of $ 20,334. The grant applied for this year is expected to provide <br />approximately the same amount. The final amount will be determined after the State receives <br />all the applications. A copy of the grant package is attached along with a proposed resolution <br />far Board consideration. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The grant provides funding to offset administrative costs of Emergency <br />Management in Orange County. The Budget OfFce will provide a budget amendment at a <br />future meeting to budget far the receipt of the grant. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the attached <br />resolution accepting the grant and authorize the Manager to sign the grant award. <br />
