Based on the topographic and hydrological situation of the project along
Stroud's Creek and its tributaries, there is a high probability that prehistoric archaeological sites
exist in the project area.
We recommend that a comprehensive survey be conducted by an experienced archaeologist to
identify and evaluate the significance of archaeological remains that may be damaged or
destroyed by the proposed project. Potential effects on unknown resources must be assessed
prior to the initiation of construction activities.
T~*rn copies c-.f the res>>lting archaeological survey report (and one copy of the appropriate site
farms) should be forwarded to us far review and comment as soon as they are submitted by the
consulting archaeologist and well in advance of any construction activities.
These comments are made in accord with G.S. 121-12(a) and Executive Order XVI. If you have
any questions regarding them, please contact Renee Gledhill-Earley, Environmental Review
Coordinator, at 733-4763.
Sincerely,
David Brook
Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer
ocation Mailing Address Telephone/Faz
AbMINiRTRATi(1N Sn7 N Rln„nr Cr kalriah Nf dFl7 Mail CP'.~i~A r"A~rA~ RalAi~h Nf ~7F44_dh17 !4141 7~i_d7Fi 7~3.RF5~
