North Carolina <br />An inventory of Chapel Hill -Carrboro District schools is shown in Figure 7. <br />Elementary school buildings have 559,073 square feet of floor area accommodating an <br />elementary ADM of 4,419 students. Dividing the total building area by the number of <br />students yields a standard of 127 square feet of school building per elementary student. <br />The average elementary school site in the Chapel Hill -Carrboro District is 12.9 acres. <br />Also, the average elementary school has three relocatable classrooms, or mobile units. <br />Middle school buildings have 352,437 square feet of floor area accommodating an ADM <br />of 2,325 students. Dividing the total building area by the number of students yields a <br />standard of 152 square feet of school building per middle school student. The average <br />middle school site is 32 acres and has only one relocatable classroom. <br />High schools in the Chapel Hill -Carrboro District have 499,782 square feet of floor <br />area accommodating an ADM of 2,$43 students. Dividing the total building area by the <br />number of students yields a standard of 176 square feet of school building per high <br />school student.
