Davis, Planner III, Ext. 2580 <br />EDD Design Manual (Abridged revised) TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 73Z-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-2Z7-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To hear public comments regarding the proposed EDD subdistricts for the proposed. <br />Hillsborough Area EDD. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Orange County/Hillsborough Economic Development Districts Task force has been working since <br />February of 2000 on zoning districts that would permit certain uses by right and some uses through a <br />planned development rezoning and/or a special use permit process. <br />Rather than create numerous new districts, staff is using the Economic Development District as the <br />broad land use category. Within the broad Economic Development land use category new subdistricts <br />will have prefixes of `ED' and specific subdistricts associated with them. For example, ED-O would be <br />called Economic Development -Office District and ED-FLX would be the Economic Development - <br />Office/Flex District.. By using this approach we are able to adhere to the existing Comprehensive Plan <br />designations of Economic Development Activity Node for the Hillsborough Area EDD. It retains the <br />classification of Economic Development District with which everyone is familiar.
