ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD <br /> May 14, 2019 <br /> Mama Dipp's Restauant <br /> Chapel Hill <br /> Minutes <br /> Members Present: John Anderson, Sharon Hill, Barbara Jessie-Black, Jim Kitchen, John Morris, Mark <br /> O'Neal, Paige Zinn <br /> Orange County Staff: Steve Brantley, Amanda Garner, Mike Ortosky, Yvonne Scarlett <br /> Call to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Jim Kitchen, Chair at 12:10 p.m. Minutes from March 19, <br /> 2019 meeting were unanimously approved. <br /> New Business <br /> Advisory Board Open Positions <br /> Chair Jim Kitchen reviewed all submitted application with the members of the Advisory Board. <br /> Two positions are open; one representing Orange County's core business community and one <br /> representing the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. <br /> After review of the submitted applications (11) and by general consensus the Advisory Board <br /> agreed to request the County Commissioners to appoint Kristen Smith Young as the UNC <br /> representative and to continue their review/search of a core business community during the <br /> summer. <br /> Election of Executive Committee <br /> The following were elected to serve for the upcoming 2019-20 year: <br /> • Paige Zinn, Chair <br /> • John Morris, Vice-Chair <br /> • Barbara Jessie Black , Secretary <br /> Old Business <br /> Advisory Board Vision <br /> Jim Kitchen stated he addressed the Board of County Commissioners at their annual Advisory Board <br /> Work plan meeting and with his comments focused on the following topics: <br /> • SWOT Analysis <br /> • Viable and shovel-ready sites <br /> • Economic Development strategy <br />
