A DOA staff person , Jeanne Chamberlin , is assigned responsibilities of <br /> coordinating SHIIP outreach and volunteer activities . <br /> During the grant period, Jeanne will work with other DOA staff, SHIIP volunteers , and other community leaders to <br /> accomplish the following activities . <br /> • Enrollment events focused on low- income seniors will be held during Open Enrollment at two community centers <br /> in Northern Orange County and Adelaide Walters Apartments in Chapel Hill . <br /> • Extra Help program information and Prevention Posters are posted at both Senior Centers throughout the year and <br /> enrollment sessions are held weekly at each center . <br /> • Articles and short informational items will be developed and included in the Department on Aging publications : <br /> Senior Times published quarterly and Endless Possibilities electronic newsletter published twice per month . Content <br /> will include preventive services covered by Medicare , low- income assistance programs , and cost savings on <br /> prescription drugs among other topics . <br /> • Extra Help program information will be distributed to residents receiving supplemental food benefits through <br /> programs such as food banks and Meals on Wheels . <br /> • Welcome to Medicare classes will be held monthly in both Chapel Hill and Hillsborough . Information on <br /> preventive services and Extra Help are included in each class . <br /> All outreach and media activities , as well as beneficiary contacts will be recorded in the STARS system as required <br /> for Federal SHIIP reporting . <br /> Page 11 of 15 <br />
