The purpose of the study was to evaluate and recalculate : <br /> the composition of single stream recyclables delivered to the <br /> county-owned, privately-operated MRF. Per the county's =" <br /> processing contact,the composition is used to calculate the value <br /> of recyclables delivered to the MRF and how much the operator k' <br /> pays the county for its recyclables. During the five-day study KCI kx <br /> pulled and sorted over 50 samples from recyclables collected in - <br /> the unincorporated county and five municipalities. KCI developed <br /> the study protocol, which was approved by both the county andzA <br /> :Eq <br /> the MRF operator, coordinated with the haulers to deliver <br /> material to the study location, conducted the field work, analyzed <br /> data, and prepared a technical memorandum summarizing the <br /> results. Field work entailed pulling representative samples from loads of the city's recyclables and <br /> manually sorting them by material type based on a methodology developed by KCI and approved by the <br /> city.
