This included conducting multiple WCSs and RCSs,with the most recent RCS conducted <br /> in 2015. KCI's evaluation of the county's existing MRF identified numerous opportunities to reduce <br /> costs and improve productivity. KCI provided technical assistance to the county for implementation of <br /> numerous improvements and modifications at the MRF. Accomplishments to date include: <br /> • Privatized MRF Operation: KCI assisted with the it <br /> procurement of privatized MRF operations and KCI is a premier solid <br /> negotiated a processing contract that provided waste consulting firm.I find <br /> savings/additional revenue to the county of over KCI's work to be superior, <br /> $1 million per year. timely,and extremely thorough. <br /> KCI staff is professional, <br /> • MRF renovations and Single Stream Retrofit: knowledgeable,efficient,and <br /> Utilizing the results of recyclables composition KCI has demonstrated a <br /> studies, KCI worked with the county to develop dedication to helping Charleston <br /> the technical specifications and procurement of County beyond a <br /> MRF renovations and conversion of the old dual consultant/client relationship. <br /> stream processing system to handle single <br /> stream recyclables. Joe Dawson <br /> County Attorney <br /> • Single Stream Retrofits: In response to the need Charleston County,SC <br /> to increase throughput, streamline operations, <br /> and improve the quality of recyclable materials, <br /> KCI is currently working with the county to implement a series of retrofits and operational <br /> changes including an expanded covered tip floor, upgraded infeed, expanded quality control on <br /> the fiber and container lines, and expanded bale storage. <br /> New Materials Recovery Facility Development <br /> We are currently in the planning phase of an RCS for Charleston County that will be used for developing <br /> a new MRF. The county's program has expanded to the point that it has outgrown the existing MRF. To <br /> date, KCI has provided technical assistance in site evaluations,technology vendor assessments, financial <br /> analysis of various operational scenarios, and development of preliminary site designs.
