Web and Intranet development <br />Current site assessment and needs analysis conducted Spring 2000 by NC Dept of Commerce <br />Information Technology Services (ITS) <br />Assessment study, coordinated by Inet Committee and with Department Directors, resulted in prototype <br />Web site appearance, project plan and scope of work <br />Web Redesign Project Objectives <br />• Update and Streamline the Web Site <br />1. Review existing content and modify existing content accordingly to reflect the current services <br />provided by the County <br />2. Establish a web presence for departments not now represented <br />• Make the Web Site More Engaging and Easier to Use <br />1. Redesign the Web site to contain consistent appearance'and navigation components but allow for <br />each department to customize their "look and feel` to properly express the uniqueness of the <br />service they provide. The "look and feel' for each departmental web site will be driven by color, <br />graphics, and content. All departments will use standard site navigation and style sheets. <br />2. Define requirements for on-line access to and submission of forms (e.g., volunteer applications) <br />pertaining to specific departmental needs <br />3. Define technical and functional requirements to support a bilingual web site <br />4. Navigation of the sites (main and department pages) will be standardized, easy to use, and <br />logical in flow. <br />5. Redesign to ensure the Orange County web site is compliant with the NC Technical Architecture <br />and web design standards adopted by ITS that include both international Web standards and <br />standards for accessibility for disabled persons. <br />• Make the Web Site More Useful and Maintainable for County Staff <br />1. Identify tools to track standard web statistics to effectively monitor site activity <br />2. Simplify Web site maintenance and update for Orange County personnel <br />Web Redesign Project Scope <br />Expertise Provided by ITS Team - Graphic Designer, Process Analyst, Project Manager, Technical <br />Architect, Web Developer (2), Technical Writer <br />Project elapsed time between 16 and 24 weeks for entire project, first Web redesign results public within <br />8 weeks <br />Three Phase Effort- <br />Phase I - Current Web Site Conversion/Redesign (4-8 weeks, cost not to exceed $58,715 - 729 Hours) <br />Phase II - Departmental Web Site Development (8-12 weeks, cost not to exceed $58,983 - 727 Hours) <br />Phase III - Intranet Redesign (4 weeks, cost not to exceed $20,098 - 250 Hours) <br />Total cost not to exceed $137,790, up to 1,706 person-hours, average rate of $646 per person-day <br />06/15/00
