5thWall Building Diagnostics Consultants Government Services Annex <br /> District Attorney Office <br /> Roof Replacement <br /> November 2009 <br /> F . Excessive demolition, as determined by the Owner's representative , shall be replaced <br /> with similar and equal materials at the Contractor's expense in accordance with General <br /> Conditions of the Contract. <br /> G . Contractor shall furnish necessary temporary protection from weather at all areas of <br /> demolition to protect interior of building from elements of weather at all times . Install <br /> specified roof systems) and tie in to existing roof system as needed to make roof <br /> watertight daily. <br /> H . Contractor shall maintain safety precautions during performance of the work . <br /> I . It is recommended that demolition not be performed if the chance of precipitation is 40 <br /> percent or more as reported by nearest office of the National Weather Service : daily <br /> weather log to be kept by Contractor . The Contractor may, at its discretion, and in <br /> consultation with the Owner or its authorized representative, perform demolition when <br /> the chance of precipitation exceeds the noted percentage . The decision to perform <br /> demolition in no way relieves the Contractor from repair of materials , finishes , <br /> furnishings , surfaces , etc . which may become damaged resultant from precipitation . A <br /> severe weather plan must be provided to the Designer and Owner indicating procedures <br /> to be utilized in the event of severe or hazardous weather conditions . <br /> PART 2 PRODUCTS <br /> 2 . 01 Materials <br /> A. Except where noted otherwise, materials being demolished become the property of the <br /> Contractor. <br /> B . Remove debris in such a manner as to prevent accumulation on the roof. Demolition debris <br /> shall be legally weighed and disposed or recycled by Contractor. Debris shall be removed <br /> from the roof daily. Debris shall be covered when the Contractor is not on site . <br /> PART 3 EXECUTION <br /> 101 Demolition — Roof Systems <br /> A . The Contractor shall document actual quantities removed for any materials bid on a unit <br /> price basis and report to Designer . <br /> B . Remove and dispose of existing shingles , underlayment and associated flashing down to <br /> the substrate . <br /> C . Clean all dust and debris from the deck . Do not use power blowers to clean the deck. <br /> Shop vacuums shall be used to clean the deck . <br /> D . Exercise caution to minimize potential damage to the existing deck or substrate . <br /> E . Should the deck or substrate become damaged, repair shall be made prior to installing <br /> new roof system . Notify the Owner or Designer of any deck repair or replacement . No <br /> reimbursement shall be made for any deck repair or replacement not confirmed by the <br /> Owner or Designer .
