My position on the Board of Health has been
as an ASAB liaison so this will also end my term on both boards. I have no doubt that the ASAB will be
able to find a replacement for me soon. There is already a veterinarian serving on the ASAB and she may
wish to be considered for this position. I’m sure that Bob will be in communication with Quintana soon.

I have immensely enjoyed serving the citizens of Orange County. I will continue my service on the NC
Association of Local Boards of Health as an Emeritus member and also on the NC Local Health
Department Accreditation Board.

My term on the Board of Health has been such a rewarding experience. Hiring two of the best Health
Directors (Colleen and Quintana) were certainly highlights. Quintana was such a joy to discover and I’m
sure she’ll continue do great things for our health department and the citizens of Orange County.
Banning smoking in public areas was also a highlight. I do hope that the board will reconsider vaping in
public spaces as this will be a very progressive action and safeguard public health. Keep an eye on what
the Durham Board of Health does!

Before I am gone from this board I will provide Quintana with information on the work of the Dangerous
Animals Taskforce to update our current ordinance.

I will see you both tomorrow night.

7
