<br /> Explanation of “Position” Term Expiration <br />Appointment Dates vs. Term Expiration Dates (Partial vs. Full Terms) <br /> <br /> Explanation of Full Term Appointments <br /> <br />The one very important thing to keep in mind and if you walk away with just one fact under your belt from this meeting, it is an understanding of “Term Expirations”! Regarding any Advisory Board position term expiration, a date was set when the particular Advisory Board position was initiated. The terms will always expire at the end of a quarter (March, June, September, and December). The term expiration does not deviate. The term expiration has no relationship with the appointment date. When the position on the board was created, a term expiration date was establ ished and will only bump forward every 3 years. <br /> <br /> <br /> Explanation of Partial Term Appointments A partial term means that the term initiated upon appointment by the BOCC, is a period of less than 2 years This also means that the appointee is eligible to still serve 2 additional full 3 year terms (as long as the board recommends them). <br /> <br /> Explanation of Full Term Appointments <br /> A full term means that the term initiated upon appointment by the BOCC, is a period of more than 2 years based on the based on the established term expiration date (refer to the far left block). A first full term could be less than 3 years which means that the appointee is on eligible for 1 additional full term. <br />A second full term appointment means that the board member has successfully completed a first full term through their contribution and attendance record. In the majority of cases, this is their final term of 3 years and they will therefore roll off the board at the end of the term. The person must remain off of the board for a full year before they can apply for the board again. <br /> <br /> <br />Scenario #1 Scenario #2 Scenario #3 Scenario #4 <br /> <br />A current member of an Advisory Board resigns in the middle of their term on 02/15/2015. The term expiration is 09/30/2016. A new candidate is appointed to the position on 03/05/2015. What is their term expiration date? <br />A current member of an Advisory Board moves out of the county 0715/2015 and their term expiration is 12/31/2016. An applicant is appointed to the vacant position on 08/22/2015. Would this person be serving a full term or partial term? <br />An applicant is recommended for appointment to a vacant board position. The appointment is made on 09/15/2015 and the term expiration is 03/31/2018. Would this be considered a full term appointment? <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />(Attachment #3) <br />A current board member’s term expiration will be expiring in 2 months. They are going to be recommended for a second full term. This board fits under the general Advisory Board Policy regarding the number of terms one can serve Is this their final term? And if so, how long before they can apply for this board again? <br />3
