10 <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Carrboro Clams Ultimate Frisbee Team won the 2019 North Carolina 1 <br />High School Boys Division I State Championship on May 5, 2019. 2 <br /> 3 <br /> Commissioner Marcoplos read the proclamation: 4 <br /> 5 <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS 6 <br />PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION 7 <br />ON THE CARRBORO CLAMS 8 <br />WINNING THE 2019 ULTIMATE FRISBEE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 9 <br /> 10 <br />WHEREAS, the Carrboro Clams won the 2019 North Carolina Ultimate Frisbee High School 11 <br />Boys Division I State Championship, besting a field of 12 teams; and 12 <br /> 13 <br />WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coaches Schuyler Kylstra, Marc Rovner and Chathan 14 <br />Driehuys, the team won all four of its matches in the state tournament; and 15 <br /> 16 <br />WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork and commitment of the team and 17 <br />coaches, the Clams brought honor upon themselves and Orange County; 18 <br /> 19 <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners 20 <br />expresses its sincere appreciation and respect to the Carrboro Clams for their 21 <br />outstanding achievement and their inspiration to youth across North Carolina 22 <br />through their dedication, teamwork and athletic prowess. 23 <br /> 24 <br />This the 21st day of May 2019. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Team members in attendance: Samuel Jarrett, Andrew Hoffman, Akshay Mankad, Gavin Blurr, 27 <br />Josh Singleton; and two others, as well as Coach Schuyler. 28 <br /> 29 <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Marcoplos, seconded by Commissioner 30 <br />McKee for the Board to approve and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation. 31 <br /> 32 <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS 33 <br /> 34 <br />e. Resolution Supporting North Carolina’s Working People and Their Families 35 <br />The Board considered voting to approve a Resolution Supporting North 36 <br />Carolina’s Working People and Their Families. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Chair Rich presented this item. 39 <br /> 40 <br />BACKGROUND: Working people are currently struggling in an economy that does not work for 41 <br />them.
